Police responded to a shooting on Sunday at a church outside of San Antonio, Texas.

Authorities reportedly responded to a shooting at a church outside of San Antonio, Texas, on Sunday that left several people wounded and a gunman dead.

There are believed be multiple fatalities among more than a dozen people shot, ABC News reported, citing law enforcement sources.

A man reportedly walked into the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs around 11:30 a.m. local time and began shooting at people, San Antonio station KSAT reported.

The station, citing local police, reported that the gunman is dead.

One witness told San Antonio station KENS5 that a 2-year-old child is among the victims.

The Wilson County, Texas, Sheriff’s Office confirmed the police presence at the church to Reuters. The office declined comment when reached by HuffPost.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R), in a post on Twitter Sunday afternoon, responded to news of the shooting by calling it an “evil act.”

Sutherland Springs is located about 35 miles east of San Antonio.

The church shooting comes barely more than a month after a gunman killed 58 people at a country music festival in Las Vegas. And in late September, one woman was killed and seven people were injured in a shooting at Burnette Chapel Church of Christ in Antioch, Tennessee. The alleged gunman, Emanuel Samson, 25, was arrested at the scene.
