John Davidson, Abbotsford Police Constable, Killed In The Line Of Duty

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. — A police officer who died in the line of duty Monday in Abbotsford, B.C., has been identified as a constable with 24 years of experience in policing who was also active in the community.

Const. John Davidson died after responding to a report of a possible stolen vehicle.

The Abbotsford Police Department says Davidson began his career as a police officer in the United Kingdom in 1993 before moving to British Columbia in 2006.

The department describes Davidson as a dedicated officer who devoted much of his time to the community and connecting with kids.

He is survived by his wife and three adult children.

Abbotsford police say a man in his 60s from Alberta was taken into custody Monday after exchanging gunfire with its officers.
